Restrictions for student on hemodialysis

Does anyone know of any restrictions on a student with dialysis that would limit them from going on a field trip to a nature center?

He has external heparinized dialysis ports and an AV fistula. I have activity restrictions like no fast moving balls, etc., but they do not seem to meet any of the things they will be doing. I cannot find a reason for him not to go, but the teacher is questioning my decision.

I am guessing that the teacher is questioning your judgement because he/she does not want to be responsible for this child on the field trip. Educate the teacher and also let them know that students can not be excluded from such trips, at least in CT. Poor fella, let him go with his peers! :)

My vice-principal told me to call the parents the morning of the field trip to explain the "unsanitary conditions" of the port-a-potty and to make sure they still wanted him to go. I don't know why this was not done last week, but oh well. So I called and the mom said she understood and gave the green light for him to go.

He was so excited!! :redbeathe

Thank you for your support.

Good for you for caring about this little fella, and good for mom for understanding what it means to be a little boy! :redpinkhe
