I am turning in my resignation letter tomorrow and would like to know if it needs any changes. Thanks in advance!

Dear xxxx,

Please accept this as formal notice of my resignation from the position of staff rn from xxxx; my last working day will be june 12, 2010.

After much consideration I have decided to accept another job offer. I feel it is time for a new challenge and this is a good opportunity to further my career goals.

Working for this company has been a wonderful experience. I feel privileged to have been part of the xxxx and will miss all of my colleagues.

I appreciate both the professional and personal growth opportunities that have been provided to me during my time with the company.

Sincerely,

xxxx

It's funny how I keep finding these discussions that relate to what I'm going through. I just gave my 2 weeks notice which is stated in my employee handbook as required. After giving notice, I was told that the policy changed to a required 1 month notice. Well, to make a long story short, I have all ready accepted a job offer to start work he day after my last day on this job.

Chances of me being rehired are gone if I don't give a month notice, but since I'm moving almost 2 hours away from this facility, I doubt I'll be coming back. Still I don't want to leave things on a bad note. Not sure what to do at this point. What do you guys think?

Just to cover all bases, write another explanatory letter, after all, you were following the instructions that had been given to you and request that this second letter be added to your personnel file. Explain all circumstances and apologize profusely, but ...... (Had the new rule been divulged to you in enough time, you would have followed it. Don't be afraid to write that in the letter).

Thank you for the advice. I'll do that.
