So I'm really worried about being accepted to Vanderbilt's Adult Nurse Practitioner program. It is my top pick! I have a 3.66 GPA with a major in Biology and a double minor in Chemistry and Psychology. I made a 296/340 on the revised GRE (which is equivalent to an 1140 on the old GRE). I'm not sure what I made on the writing section yet. I was president of the medical society in undergrad and I went on numerous medical mission trips. I have excellent recommendations and I have my CNA license with nursing home work experience. What are my chances of being accepted into the program? I'm really nervous that my GRE score will keep me out of the program. Thanks to anyone who has any info!

from talking to PA programs, which is similar to the direct entry at vandy, the GRE is not used so much to rank students but as to show that students with a lower gpa have academic potencial. Even so, that score is pretty good! you would have a good shot a the PA schools i looked at, so i think you have a good shot! good luck!

I got into Vandy with an 1140 GRE score. I already had my BSN but I think you sound like an excellent candidate. Good luck!
Thanks everyone! You've made me feel a lot better. This what I've always wanted to do with my life so hearing people that have been accepted to the program tell me I have a chance is such a relief! Thanks!

I got into Vanderbilt pre-specialty with an 1140 GRE score, 4.5 for the writing. I made mostly A's and a few B's on the prereqs. I only had volunteer experience & my undergrad degree was in Media Communication. I think they really look at your essays! You should have a good shot at getting in!

You have an excellent shot at being offered admission.

Well WOLFEHA- Did you get into Vandy??? I applied to Vandy and they said my math score was too low on the GRE and I would need to repeat it for consideration. I didn't want to repeat so I chose another school that I'm starting in 3 weeks. I'm attending a private Christian school and getting TWO MASTERS (the FNP and Nurse Educator) for 28K instead of about 80K at Vandy for the FNP. It's an outstanding school,no doubt, but I truly couldn't afford it anyway so I'm glad it worked out the way it has. But I sure hope you got in!!! Let us know.

Hi HollyBerryRN,
Congrats on getting in! I was wondering if you could share your GRE quant score--my verbal and analytical was high but quant low and I'm worried it prevent my admission. Thanks so much for your help!!

Hey Holly, what program are you enrolled in? I'm interested in both FNP and nurse education.

I got in with a GRE of 1120, 20 min of study. An undergraduate in Philosophy and Religious studies, my GRE Math was 34%, not the best. Bridge program, Adult Nurse Practitioner: palliative Care. That specialty is not longer there even.
SO did you all get in?
