Requirements to taking the NCLEX as a Filipino Nursing Graduate

World Registration

Hell everyone, my name is Christopher. I'm currently entering my second year of Nursing at a University here in the Philippines. I'm also an Americian Citizen. I was doing some research cause I heard that the Board of Nursing in California - that is the state where I plan on working in because i'm from there - placed some new rules and guidelines regarding Filipino Nursing Graduates and I just have a few questions

  1. Is it true that even as an American Citizen I have to get licensed here - in the Philippines - before I can start working in California ?
  2. Is it also true that if my curriculum doesn't follow California's Board of Nursing curriculum, i'm ineligible to take the NCLEX anyway considering that I might be deficient?
  3. Is there a list that someone can show me for the requirements as a international nurse that I must meet to work in California as a RN?

Thank you for reading and taking the time to answer my questions. Also, if anyone is wondering, I went to school in the Philippines because I couldn't afford school in America and I also didn't want to take out a student loan - I figured if I did, I might be in debt as an adult relatively quickly.

depends on the state. You can't in PA, IN, TX NJ and other states unless you graduate from a practical nursing program
