Requirements for IEN in Guam?

Published

Hi I am a Registered Nurse in the Philippines, I just want to asked about the requirements for Nurse registration in guam, I tried searching online but cant find detailed info as to how to start my application. Is it still under NCLEX-RN? And can I endorse my license to other US states after?

This is very common process and terrible mistake most foreign nurses go thru in applying into one country or state, when the real intention is to actually prefer to settle or quickly start to get a job in another desirable state.

Why go thru all the extra time and spend extra money to meet the real desired state's BON requirements? You only end up wasting precious time to wait for various exams or results, pay for unneeded evaluations (in some cases), due to lengthy processing times, extra application fees to apply into the undesirable or "easiest, fastest and cheapest" state, pass the NCLEX-RN there, then come to find you're going back to square one to get endorsed into the real state you wanted in the first place.

The best route is to tackle and try to meet the real desired state's BON requirements and if that doesn't work out (due to no SSN, no ITIN, no work permit, no PR, no green card, no whatever), then try another state. Don't go into the "reverse" mode, just head straight forward.

It never makes common sense to do things backwards and end up costing you lost time and money when you could have gotten a job much earlier or taken the NCLEX quicker while things are more fresh than losing a year or more walking backwards.

Don't do what so many posters here do by getting all frustrated and disappointed when they find the path to the desired state didn't happen after passing the NCLEX-RN in the easiest, fastest and cheapest state attempting to endorse. They would have gotten to their goal by simply applying to the first real state at the beginning.

Many have assumed getting an RN license in one state is an automatic and guaranteed "no-way to fail" ticket to endorsing (transferring) that RN license to the real state, that's not always the case as one must still meet the same requirements they were afraid of in the first place (didn't want to spend on English tests, pay for evaluations, get proper working legal rights, etc). Guess what? They're going to have to anyways, no choice.

It all could have been avoided in the first place.

But you must know and do your own research if that desired state is even possible.

Face your fear is the best way to go.

Thank you so much... Well I am actually planning to work in guam since I have some relatives there and if it will turned out well then i will settle there for good. but then of course just in case Id like to venture to other place /state after sometime id also like to know if this will be possible as my plan B. We have seen a few posters post on difficulties contacting the BON in regards application and for most these days we don't see many apply unlike a few years ago when many did

Hi! I'm an RN from Guam and also a graduate from the Philippines. You can find everything here including the application form, requirements and contact numbers.

GBNE.org > Home

You need a social security number and CGFNS CES professional report as well.

Good luck!

Here's the application form

https://www.dphss.guam.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/forms/Application%20for%20Guam%20Board%20of%20Nurse%20Examiners%20-%20Fillable_0.pdf

All you need to do is in that form. Apply for CGFNS CES professional report at cgfns.com. Then complete the application above and mail it to the Guam Board of Nurse Examiners. You'll need police and court clearance, social security number, etc.
