Requirements for an associates program

Published

I went to my advisor and told them I wanted to get into an associates program and asked what other courses I would need. The list they gave me was incredibly long; I would need 2 more semester of 5 classes each. I don't think they gave me what I was asking for. Here are the courses I currently have completed.

A&P 1 and 2

Intro to Sociology

Intro to Psychology

Developmental Psychology

HED Intro to Health and Wellness (Gym)

Intermediate Algebra

English 101 and 105 which is Intro to Literature

HED Death and Dying

Philosophy Western Religion (Humanities elective)

With that being said to my own understanding the only other class I would need before I would have all of the requirements for basically any program would be microbiology, correct?

My school's ADN program requires:

English 1

College Algebra

any humanities course

Intro to Psych

Developmental Psych

Nutrition

Gen Biology

AP 1

AP 2

Microbiology

Nutrition

Stats

HED Intro to Safery

Some Chem, it may have been organic

SUNY elective not sure what that would be

HPE elective not sure what that would be

Philosophy Intro to Ethics.

Theres no way i could need that for an associates right?

All the nursing program near me has all the basic requirements of prerequisites to take such as:

Micro

A&P 1& 2

Nutrition

Statistics

Gen Chemistry 1

Pysch & development psych

Then anything else will be included base on the school or wether it's a BSN

To get into my SUNY ADN program the only pre reqs were chemistry I and II and a choice out of 3 maths. They did recommend A&P to be competitive, but it is theoretically part of the nursing program. Since it takes a while to get into this nursing school program, the advisors often have students take the classes they will need to graduate even before they get into it.
