I'm thinking about becoming a nurse in the near future. I'm graduating high school soon and going to college in the fall. I need to get my general education out of the way before I do anything but I have one question.. Is there any books you guys recommend about nursing? I want to have the edge when going into a nursing program. Thanks!
What does one think about this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/039751168X/ref=dp_olp_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1213234078&sr=1-15
It appears to be an advanced book intended for surgical residents. Probably more advanced than you need at this time, but if this is what you're interested in reading, then who am I to say "no"?
Since you haven't taken any college courses towards your nursing school requirements, try a basic Anatomy and Physiology text; I think, at this point, it will serve you better. This is the one we used in my program... http://www.amazon.com/Holes-Human-Anatomy-Physiology-David/dp/0073316091/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1213239534&sr=1-1
This book will be a keeper throughout your career, and will get you started learning about the human body. I liked this one a lot.
Thanks! I think I'm going to buy both.

Get one as new as possible but still try not to spend too much since you will be buying your school's version when you start (they usually cost $100).
Like kriseh said you need to learn the anatomy and physiology first, so on second thought, buy an A&P book first and then a Medical/Surgical Nursing book. The further ahead you can get the better.
