Reporting Prescription Medications When Registering to Take NCLEX?

Published

I was hoping to find some clarification when it comes to registering to take the NCLEX in the state of Florida.

If a student who applying to take the NCLEX regularly sees a psychiatrist and has a prescription for ADHD medication (Adderall), do they have to report this with documentation during the application? Or is it only reported/documented if the student is applying for special testing accommodations and extended testing time?

TIA for responses! :)

You have to contact the Florida BON for the specifics. In my state you only report those type of things if accommodations are needed.

I would be shocked if any BON asked anyone to disclose that they were taking meds though. To me that's too intrusive. I would think that all states want documentation from a qualified evaluator that the candidate is eligible which I think is necessary so people who don't need them try to get them.

-Testing accommodations for otherwise qualified candidates can be provided only with the authorization of your board of nursing.

-Request information from your board of nursing concerning its requirements for receiving testing accommodations. This should be done before submitting your NCLEX registration.

-Make a written request for accommodations to your board of nursing. Your request must comply with requirements established by your board of nursing for candidates requesting testing accommodations.

-Send your request to your board of nursing as early as possible so that, if approved, the testing accommodations can be made in a timely manner.

-Do not schedule an appointment to take the NCLEX until you have received written confirmation of your accommodations and your ATT email indicating “Accommodations Granted.”

-Candidates approved for testing with accommodations must schedule their testing appointment through the NCLEX Accommodations Coordinator by calling Pearson VUE NCLEX Candidate Services at the telephone number listed on their ATT and asking for the NCLEX Accommodations Coordinator.

-Candidates with accommodations cannot cancel their accommodations at the time of their appointment.

-Candidates who seek to test with accommodations cannot schedule their appointments through the NCLEX Candidate website.
