Repeating a Course

I have always done great in my classes but this semester has been my worst. I started Pediatrics and I am failing. There's a very slim chance of passing and I'm looking at either taking the chance and probobly failing, or dropping the class and hope that I can re-enter in the fall.

Has anyone gone through this? It's so heart breaking. I worked so hard to get into this program and seen people who have been able to repeat other courses before and am scared I won't get in next semester.:crying2:

Well, 1st you need to talk to your teacher or counselor/ your nursing school academic advisor so that they can help you make the right decision. Are you absolutely sure your going to fail? Have you calculated your grades and know exactly what you need to pass? Are you in a BSN program? Are you trying to go to grad school? Will this grade effect your chances of getting into the grad program you want? All these questions have to be answered and you should talk to advisor to help you make the right decision.

I don't think you should do anything until you speak to your advisor. You don't want to make the wrong decision because you didn't have all the info you need to make a proper decision. But right off hand, I would drop the class if you can avoid the failing grade. But you certainly don't want to drop it and end out of the program anyway. Maybe there are other options that the advisor can help you with. Good luck.

I am going through the exact same thing right now.

I spoke with both my clinical and classroom instructors this week.

I am trudging on.

If I quit, I KNOW I have to repeat the class.

If I trudge on, I have a fighting chance.

AND by remaining and fighting, I know I did everything I could, I didn't give up and I will have learned the material already once... so that if I do have to repeat, I've been there and done that and know exactly what to expect.

Now, that's my decision.

Not an easy one.

Talk to your instructors.

OB is HARD but it can be done.

GOOD LUCK!!
