New Graduate Nurse having trouble finding job in Dallas
Hey, if you would consider moving to another part of Texas, University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas is hiring right now for a new graduate nurse. From past experience, this hospital hires alot of new nurses. I just had to turn down two interviews for a graduate nurse at this hospital because I had already found a job. Good luck.:) http://www.healthcaresource.com/umedcenter/index.cfm?fuseaction=search.jobDetails&template=dsp_job_details.cfm&cJobID=814887

Finally have a job after months of applying!!!
I have been out of school since I graduate from a BSN program last May. I have been applying for numerous jobs in new orleans, houston, and dallas. Not one person called me from new orleans for an interview. This really had me discourage but I had way better luck in houston and dallas. I finally got offered a job here in Texas. I'm just writing this to encourage all you new grads out there that feels discourage right now. There is work for us! You just have to be persistent and use your resources like your former nursing school instructors. They are great people to get advice and letters of recommendation from. It goes a long way. Good luck to you all!

Starting to doubt if nursing is for me...
I use to be the same way when I first started clinicals. I think you always feel a little intimidated or anxious on your first day of clinicals but you have to realize that this was just your first day and it will get better for you. You just have to keep practicing with your skills. You may need to sit down and think about or make a list of what is specifically freaking you out about clinicals and then work on ways to will eliminate those feelings. It got better for me with more days at clinical and practicing and becoming better at my skills. I hope this helped you. Good luck to you.

Anyone know what a new nurse salary is in new orleans
I will be graduating in may from a 4 year degree program and I am thinking about moving to new orleans. I was wondering if anyone know anything about the nursing job market in new orleans. Do any one have any recommendations for hospitals in new orleans. I would like to work either telemetry or L&D. Any new orleans nurses out there have any advise ( not about living there but about being a nurse in new orleans). Do you know if many hospitals are hiring new graduate nurses or is it difficult to get a job as a new nurse?

exit HESI
I use the book called Evolve Reach Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN Examination( I went through this whole book and answer all the practice questions), i also use the nclex-rn 3500( I answer about 500 of these questions before i took the test), i also bought the book called saunders strategies for success for the nclex-rn examination( This book was really helpful. It teaches you how to answer nclex style questions and it also has alot of practice questions). I was having alot of difficulty passing the Hesi so I decided to just answer as many practice nclex style questions from as many nclex books and websites as i could find. If when I looked at a question and did not know the answer, I would go back and review that topic in my nursing school textbook. This help me alot. You need to become comfortable with answering these types of questions. I study and answer questions for about a month before I took the test. I hope this information helps you and good luck. Just keep practicing those questions and you'll do GREAT!!

advice?motivation? ANYTHING
Well, you need to calculate your grades to see what you need to make. Sit down with a teacher and figure this out. I was kinda in this same situation, but I made it possible for myself to pass. Let me tell you how I did it. I started studying the test material at least 3 weeks before each test. I did this by reading the assigned topic in the textbook and also studying notes that where given in class. Alot of the nursing school textbooks come with cds that have practice questions from each chapter. After reading your chapter, do does questions for that chapter on the cd. The textbook may also come with a website you can go to that may have additional practice test questions that you can answer. Do the practice questions and if you answer a question wrong, go back and study that material again. After doing all this, maybe you can get with a study group to go over the material and bounce questions off each other. By a week before the test, you should be on a level where you have gone over and learn most of the material. At this point, this last week is used for review and catching anything you may have missed. Just keep going over and over the material. Even if you feel like you know it, go over it some more. This is how I studied. By using these techniques, I did not make anything less then a 90 on any of the exams. I hope this helps and good luck with the rest of your semester. You can make the grades you wanna make. All it takes is hard work and dedication. God Bless.

Repeating a Course
Well, 1st you need to talk to your teacher or counselor/ your nursing school academic advisor so that they can help you make the right decision. Are you absolutely sure your going to fail? Have you calculated your grades and know exactly what you need to pass? Are you in a BSN program? Are you trying to go to grad school? Will this grade effect your chances of getting into the grad program you want? All these questions have to be answered and you should talk to advisor to help you make the right decision.

Staying motivated
Well, I want to start out doing med-surg and eventually move to telemetry or maternity. I'm hoping after a year of experience, I can work with a travel agency. I would like to travel all over the country. Agency seems like it would fit me so much and the top pay isn't bad either.

Staying motivated
I'm in my last semester in a BSN program. I been noticing that as the semester move on, I have been having trouble staying motivated to study and stay on top of my class work. I know that this is certainly not the time to slack off but I just feel sad and down all the time. I know I should be excited about my upcoming graduation but even thinking about this is not motivating me to study. I think that I am just nervous about getting out into the world of nursing and knowing that I won't have that teacher there to help me through any problems that I may have. I'm really nervous about knowing that I will be completely on my own.
