In-state tuition
Hello, when I was accepted to a Florida RN-BSN online program I was a resident in florida my entire life so they gave me in-state tuition. My parents still live there and I still have florida vehicle registration and florida voters card etc. however, I am an independent now (above 24) I live in another state with a friend (my name isn't on the lease) I pay her little rent and I got a job in that state. It has been beneficial because I'm making a lot more money and I'm sending it to my parents to help pay the mortgage. Do I need to tell that school I work in another state? Even though everything that ties to me is still Florida (except my job). Or can I still get Florida tuition? I don't know what to do, but they haven't changed my residency .. would they find out? I mean.. at the same time i'd feel dumb if they would never catch on cause it would triple my tuition :\ HELP! The devil on my shoulder is telling me to keep my mouth shut but the angel on my shoulder is making me feel guilty. Has anyone else done this?

IV math problem
I get math tests every semester.. and I just want to make sure of everything as much as I can.. . If a bag of NS is 1000mL for 10hrs... it would be 100 mL/hr but if 642 mLs have already been infused then how do you figure out how many hours you have left? edit** so i did 1000-642 = 358 mLs left... then I did 358 divided by 100mL/hr and got 3.58 which would be the answer: 3 hr and 35 min left is this correct?

in need of some major encouragement
I started my nursing program in January... passed the first semester but had to withdraw from the second and now i have to retake it in the summer. In an attempt to regain my confidence I signed up for a CNA test. I passed the written portion with flying colors .. but I failed the clinical portion on one section. I DID THE WRONG LEG FOR RANGE OF MOTION It's killing me because I KNOW BETTER. It said to do right lower extremity but I did left because I was so anxious I wasn't even thinking about it. What's even worse is I already passed that portion of the RN program.. the whole bed pans, ROM, etc and I challenged the CNA test but this makes me feel like i'm not capable of anything I just want to give up all together. My confidence is hanging by a thread here.

Any Motivational Stories?
Has anyone had an extremely tough time in Nursing School... ie.withdraw and retaking, failing and retaking, barely making the grade and has successfully graduated from nursing school? I love hearing these stories because they are so inspirational so please do share! : )

Oh no Did you bring up that pharm grade? I remember statistics , that class would always get me.. I'd always get the calculation correct and then Id get that little sentence that you have to state at the end of each problem... wrong. Goodluck with that, trust me if I passed that class, anyone can ! Thanks so much for the motivation! This next test has fluid and electrolytes on it, I started reading on it, and so far it isn't too bad I am understanding it but if it gets too tough, I have a book called Fluid and Electrolytes made easy! :) I'm really trying to keep my head up and never give up!

See i noticed that there were a good 7 questions I KNOW were in the boxes and I ran out of time and didn't thoroughly go over them.. this next test I need a 46 to be passing! It isn't impossible but it will take some work. Did you have to make up just about 9 points? I can't believe I put myself in this situation!

Thank you so much for your reply! Yes!, it is a very tough program. I have the saunders book and a lot of people told me to study the format of the test questions. I passed process 1 and failed 2 tests in that term.. but only by 1 or 2 points.. a 28 was so shocking to me. Your story has really encouraged me to put my head up! I was very hysterical and so afraid I'd give up, but this is something I worked SO hard to get to, I WILL pass this next test!! When you studied from Saunders did you just study the format or were there OB questions in there? We use Perry/Potter for Nursing Process 2 and I read everything word for word and that got me a 28.. I feel like I read but nothing stuck.

Hey all im in Nursing process 2 at central and i got a 28 on my first test.. i missed it by 9 POINTS. Does ANYONE know of anyone that actually made up those 9 points? I feel incredibly discouraged I need 40's (80%) on my next 3 tests to pass the course. Words of encouragement/advice?

Here we go again . . .
Wouldn't you think that with the new health care reform there would be a huge demand for nurses. Considering the nurse to patient ratio right now is pushing it.

Dosage Calculations HELP!
I have a math test next tuesday and I was practicing from my worksheet and I came across this problem and I don't know how to start it out if anyone could help me that would be great!! :) The IV is infusing at 30 gtt/min. The Drop factor is 20 gtt/mL. The IV label reads 500 mL 5% dextrose and 0.45% sodium chloride. The IV had been infusing for 1.5 hours when you came on duty. How much longer does the IV have to infuse? my formulas: flow by gravity : mL/hr x gtts/ml _______________ = gtts/min 60 flow by infusion: total mL ordered _______________ =mL/hr Total Hours The answer was 4 hours but I'm not sure how to get that

Nursing Prereq's
I am going to school for my ADN right now.. but when I graduate from the program my science prereq's will be past the 5 year mark! ( meaning I took them 5 years ago ) Does this mean I have to retake them ... or can I go to my RN to BSN program without having to do that?
