Renewing license after long period

I have a friend who is an RN and has been off work for 9 years and wants to go back to work. She was thinking of completing an LPN program but wasn't sure if she needed to go that route. Is it possible for her to still renew her RN license without starting over? I was telling her to check with her BON, but thought I would ask on here to see if anyone had any experience with a similar situation.

Nikki, your friend is exactly the reason I won't let my registration expire EVER....I don't care if I"m 80 and retired, that license is getting RENEWED! I anticipate going to my grave with an active registration, and the BON can send my renewal notice to Celestial Care :)

RNsRWE............. it was something out of her control Im sure she isn't out of the field just because she wants to be out. I like your comment about the BON sending your renewal notice to Celestial Care :roflmao:
