Remote Work while living abroad

Hi everyone,

So I'm thinking about moving to Canada, specifically Quebec, and would like to know if anyone knows of a US company that'll allow remote work while living abroad? I want to keep my US nursing license active but I'm just not sure if I can use this license while living in another country? I know a lot of NPs do it though.

You can't.  If you want your license to grant multi-state privileges, you have to meet that state's residency requirements.

You can hold a single state license.

That's what I'm referring to. The single state. If nurses are living abroad how are they maintaining a single state license if they don't rent or own in the state.

Specializes in Vents, Telemetry, Home Care, Home infusion.

One does not need to rent or own a home within a state to obtain a single state license. You can have multiple state licenses at the same time.

I always lived in Philadephia, PA suburbs but held licenses in PA, NJ and DE as home health RN performing  IV infusions to clients living in those states. Just need to meet BON regulations in that state re continuing education, practice hours, etc.  Licenses all mailed to my PA home.

So one could live in Canada,  hold Michigan license and work doing chart review, case management, telehealth advice  etc.  providing care within that state.

Investigate if your state  BON requires residency as not a requirement in all states.  Family residence can be used as mailing address if desired especially if considering living abroad on a temporary basis to test the waters.

Ah okay! So I could definitely live in Canada and still practice remotely for whatever state license I have even if I'm not currently residing there. Got it. Thank you! I'll certainly check with the BON for whatever state the remote job requires licensure.

I hope you speak something that closely resembles français québécois... or it's gonna be a rough go working as a nurse in Quebec. Bill 96 has complicated things even further.
