relocating

I need some advice from my fellow ER nurses in California. I'm going to be relocating to the Contra Costa county area this fall. I need to know which ER's are good or bad, where I should go to look for a job. I'm going to be visiting the area in October and want to look around then. My sweetie lives in Martinez, he says the only hospital there is county and it's the pits... so someone please tell me where to go. I have 13 years experience in a Level II ER, we get almost NO trauma, so most of my experience is in the medicine side of ER. I have ACLS and PALS and trauma makes me nervous as a cat! oakland! i have been there, and to the sf/valley area a few times. it's a nice area, but the cost of living!!! it is outragious!

Well, close to me, but no cigar. I'm in San Jose. Love my ER, we have great staff on night shift, couldn't tell you about the other shifts, have never worked them. Problem is, we don't currently have any openings that I know of. (Can you believe it? We're fully staffed!)

Give california up, too many earthquakes, come to Texas. Cheaper to live, no state taxes, and plenty of golf courses that are far less expensive than out there

Glad you're fully staffed Jen, San Jose is too far away anyhow. Tom...my sweetie is in CA, not TX, so for now I'll be going to where the land moves from time to time. That really just scares me to death!!
