Relocating from NYC to Georgia

Hi all, I haven't posted in a while. I was wondering if I can get feedback from any RN that relocated from NYC to Atlanta on your experience. I noticed the pay is extremely low compared to NYC and it is not very appealing. Granted I am a new graduate with few experiences however if I am making that move I would want it to be worth my while . Any Opnions or advice even regrets are welcomed. Thank you.

Regrettably, if you are seeking a NY salary here in GA, chances are you will be disappointed as you have already seen. I moved from California to GA and thought the same as you. Your salary will match your cost of living here.

In any event, don't give up based on salary. Keep looking as different places may compensate you better. Also, as you are making choices, also remember you are gaining experience to take some place else. Not sure if this helps. Experience will open more doors for You and possibly place You in a higher salary bracket.

Do you have a BSN? There are a lot of nursing schools in the Atlanta area, but also many hospitals. But no one will likely consider you without a Georgia license. You should have that in hand and start applying before you decide if this is the right move for you.

Are BSNs required for hire by most hospitals in the Atlanta area? What if your enrolled in an RN-BSN program, does that better your chances of getting hired?

Actually, no. I like Atlanta. It took a little to become acclimated but once that passed, it was smooth sailing

Most hospitals are in fact hiring BSN-RN's. Not all facilities require require BSN. It's just a matter of searching possibly a little more to find the right fit for yourself in terms of jobs. They are out there.
