The only place I can think of off the top of my head to stay away from is Spring Lake and the Murchinson Rd area in Fayetteville. You'll certainly have a lot of choices since the military influx keeps the Fayetteville area expanding everyday.
I have family in the Hope Mills area, there are lots of great neighborhoods to choose from. It is a bit quieter than Fayetteville if that interests you.
A friend of mine just finished a travel assignment to Cape Fear and swears she'll never go back.
All I know about JH is that it's pretty small...Smithfield, however, has some great outlet shopping..hehe
Around Raleigh you'll find housing cheaper in the outlying areas....Fuquay, Clayton, etc. Raleigh has several large hospital systems...WakeMed, Duke Raleigh, Rex. WakeMed has several facilities in Cary, Apex, and North Raleigh as well as the mother ship in Raleigh. Plus we're close to Duke and UNC if you're interested in those hospitals.
dreamon, hubby has family in Hope Mills, too. :)
Thanks for the replies! I have been looking in Raeford and am going to start looking in Hope Mills too from your rec's.
I am curious about your friends experience at Cape Fear too, truern. I interviewed with them and really liked the floor.
I am having a difficult time finding housing though. I am hoping to rent a home with a little yard for my pit bull mix that will be moving with me, but every place I check out will not accept her. If anyone knows of any places that would welcome us, please let me know! Whether or not to accept the offer is turning out to be more contingent on finding a place.

Hello all,
I am looking to relocate to NC, possibly outside Raleigh or in the Fayetteville vicinity. Does anyone have any thoughts on Johnson Health in Smithfield, or Cape Fear Valley in Fayetteville? Also, any thoughts about towns? Are there places I may want to avoid in the housing search?
Thanks so much!
