Would suggest reading the sticky Primer to working in the US that has some good explainations in what to do. You need to be aware that if applying to CA direct they do not give you your license until you provide them with a SSN which you can not get until you are in the US with a valid work visa and also takes a few weeks before you get your results once you have sat the exam. You are applying for licensure and whichever state you apply to you must follow the instructions for foreign trained nurse, plus if CES is required they will not look at your file until they get the report

The thread belongs to the Int'l forum that's why it was moved here. There is a notice in the Philippine forum saying that such topics belongs to the Int'l. forum only.
It is more appropriate here as well since many can respond and benefit from the answers (not only Filipinos) to your query.
Thank you for understanding.

i'll just share with you my experience when i applied to sit for the NCLEX exam:
1. write a request to CA BON to send you the application for licensure by examination with the fingerprint card. wait at least a month for them to send it to you. you may also download the application thru their website although you still need to request for the fingerprint card.
2. accomplish the application forms including the fingerprint card and send it along with your bank draft check payable to CA BON.
3. wait at least 3-4 months for your eligibility letter. once receive, you may now apply for the NCLEX exam thru PEARSON VUE. it's faster to do it online but you need to prepare your credit card to pay for the fees.
4. wait for your ATT from Pearson Vue. (They sent me my ATT thru my e-mail and it only took 15 mins after I've applied and payed the appropriate fees thru website)
5. finally, once you receive your ATT, call the international scheduler (you will find the numbers at pearson vue website). have your credit card ready and your ATT. before calling, decide on the date and place where you want to take your NCLEX. just remember, ATT is only valid for 12 months so be sure to prepare before you apply.
Just a reminder. CA does not have the quick result so you will be waiting at least 4 weeks to receive your pass/fail letter. As for me, I waited 11 weeks! CA BON does not issue a license unless you've submitted a valid Social Security Number (SSN).
Search thru this forum and you may chance upon Suzanne and Lawrence's comments/suggestions/advice regarding the NCLEX exams and CA BON.
Good luck to you and more power!!!

Please be aware that you do not register for the NCLEX exam. You will be applying for licensure in the US as an RN. The NCLEX exam is just one step in the procedure, and you require permission to sit for that exam. There is no way to apply for it directly.
