Hello!
Is here anyone who completed RPN program in Canada? My question is regarding employability mostly. I am new immigrant, former RN. Due to some technical reasons I can not meet NNAS requirements, so as for now I want to earn Canadian education. There are several RN programs In my area, but all of them have very long wait list. I can enroll for next year to RPN studies, but I've heard that not all provinces recognize RPN as a separate education and You can not practise without being "regular" RN. Thank you for the answers.

Are you living in one of the western provinces that has registered psychiatric nurses? If so, are you planning on remaining in western Canada? In Ontario and the Atlantic provinces registered psychiatric nurse is not a recognized class of registration. There are more registered nurse jobs than registered psychiatric nurse jobs throughout Canada.

Registered Psych Nurses work in all provinces from Manitoba to the Pacific.
It's a fallacy that they can only practice on mental health units. They are also trained in general nursing duties. I've worked with RPNs in LTC and in post-partum.
Look at the course work at the college you are thinking of attending and then look at your health authority's job boards.
