Options after nursing school for someone with plantar fascitis

Hello!

I'm currently in a BSN program.

I have chronic plantar fascitis from my previous career in the US Army. I received Shockwave Therapy for my condition with disappointing results. I am only 25 years and I can honestly say there is no way I will be able to do bedside nursing. This scares me just a tad, but regardless, I'm planning on finishing it. I'm doing well above-average in my nursing program and I plan on going to graduate school.

Here's my question, will I have trouble finding employment? And what exactly are my options?

I plan on doing bedside nursing for about a year or two to gain the necessary experience, but what then?

Any advice is appreciated!

Basically, if you are unable to perform the physical tasks associated with a job, you aren't eligible for it. It's a serious patient safety issue. You will be required to attest to your capability to perform those physical tasks during the interview process. If you are not truthful at that time, it would be grounds for termination due to falsification of information. Have you exhausted all avenues for remedies? Is there any type of orthotic that you could use?

I understand how frustrating this must be for you. Hope you can find a silver lining soon.

I think you misunderstood what I was saying, I can do it I just can't imagine doing it long-term. I know compression socks have been a huge help, but at the end of the day I don't see it as a longterm commitment.

Actually, your words were that you "can't do it". Not sure how to misunderstand that. There are plenty of non-bedside nursing roles out there! Home health might be easier on your feet. Case management. Insurance. Clinic. Lots of options that may be better suited for you.
