I did it!!!!

I can't believe it!!!!! I did it!!! On the first try!!!! I graduated in December and passed my boards on the first try in the end of January!!! Now I am working on the floor I had hoped for...PCU!!! Taking care of hearts!! Nursing is an act of heart!!! I'm so excited but am realizing how much I have to learn. Thankfully I work with a really good group of nurses that are eager to teach those who are willing to learn. Did I mention I'm 43 years old?? Yep and just starting my second career. It is the most fulfilling job I have had. One thing I can say is that my experience on the floor at my previous hospital has proven to be invaluable. Now the decision of when to start my bridge courses from ADN to BSN??? Thinking i want to wait for a year and get a little experience under my belt and some money in the bank lol. I am pretty sure I am going to do it online with Indiana Wesleyan. Anybody have any feedback on them?

Well I know this isn't the most exciting blog entry but I will keep you all posted on how things progress.

Congratulations! This is a *VERY* exciting blog post! Nursing is such a great career and you will have so many doors open for you. The best advice I can give you on continuing education is to make sure that you research MANY, MANY schools before deciding. Research what the schools are good at. No one can tell you how long to take or wait before going back, so you just do it when you're ready. During your time off, though, look at all of the CNE/CE/CEU's that are out there, they were a key point in me staying current, learning more, and maintaining my professional life. Congratulations again, the nursing community is SO proud!! -b
