  1. I will definitely be checking into cathlabdigest.com!! I am a new RN as of January and just finished my orientation on a PCU floor. Like lildeebone I am a little nervous but am super excited to learn and expand my knowledge base. Kaylee that is excellent advice on reading over the teaching information for the main procedures that your floor handles. I have not had the chance to really look over that information but maybe bringing a copy of the patient teaching packet might be good day off reading.
  2. Congratulations!!!! I just passed mine in January!!!
  3. I can't believe it!!!!! I did it!!! On the first try!!!! I graduated in December and passed my boards on the first try in the end of January!!! Now I am working on the floor I had hoped for...PCU!!! Taking care of hearts!! Nursing is an act of heart!!! I'm so excited but am realizing how much I have to learn. Thankfully I work with a really good group of nurses that are eager to teach those who are willing to learn. Did I mention I'm 43 years old?? Yep and just starting my second career. It is the most fulfilling job I have had. One thing I can say is that my experience on the floor at my previous hospital has proven to be invaluable. Now the decision of when to start my bridge courses from ADN to BSN??? Thinking i want to wait for a year and get a little experience under my belt and some money in the bank lol. I am pretty sure I am going to do it online with Indiana Wesleyan. Anybody have any feedback on them? Well I know this isn't the most exciting blog entry but I will keep you all posted on how things progress.
  4. Okay so I am on summer break after first term and for the first time since high school I was so ready for summer break I could scream. I am loving classes but am so ready to be done and get to use what we are learning. I have med-surg and Ob next term what about everybody else??
  5. Hi everybody! I am in a very similar situation. I turned in my application to nursing school in the end of June and in a waiting pattern until October 1st when they will send out letters of acceptance or rejection. I am really hopeful that I will be starting in January. I too only have my nursing classes and clinicals left to do and am hoping that this will lighten my load some. I currently work as an aide in an assisted living facility and just got hired as a CNA at my local hospital but on a PRN basis. I plan on continuing this throughout school but am hoping to get enough hours PRN wise to be able to only do 2 nights at the assisted living instead of the 3 I am working now. If it gets to be too much I will probably keep the PRN slot in the hospital I feel that experience will be more valuable in the long run. Besides I have been at the assisted living for a year and it's not really a challenge anymore. Good luck on getting in I will keep my fingers crossed for you!:)
  6. Thanks for this hint!! It works perfectly!!! I have my State testing tomorrow and was freaking out because I have been struggling with this. I was so stressed about doing BP's because of it but am so excited because now it's crystal clear!! Thank you so much!!!:)
