Diploma/AASN

Hello everyone! :)

I'm new to this site and I have a question... I apologize if you've heard it a million times before. I live in Northern NJ and I'm stuck in choosing the right school to apply to. The schools in my area offer diploma nursing programs with an associate's degree in science, but not in nursing. However, one community college offers a program to obtain an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing degree. I've read on this site that AASN Nurses cannot go further to BSN programs with an AASN unless they take more courses. I was hoping maybe I could go straight in to a BSN program after becoming an RN. My goal is to become an oncology nurse one day. Can diploma nurses go straight into a BSN program? Which path do you think I should choose, Diploma or AASN? Please, I'm lost.

I'm a diploma grad who was accepted into a BSN completion program with no problems (after several years of practice) -- I'm not aware that BSN completion programs discriminate between ADN and diploma grads.
