Registered Nurse Ontario

I am a foreign trained doctor and I want to become a Registered Nurse in Ontario. Which are the shortest programs to become a RN in Ontario?
Which is the shortest way for me?

You will have to go to university. I would think that you would need to contact the universities directly to see what credits you will need. I will do a bit of a search and come back with some websites you can look at for contact info.

Go to Government of Ontario site and look under education (pull down menu in the upper right hand corner.) www.gov.on.ca

Have you considered going to a province where they don't have the BSN requirement, you may get through quicker.

They may allow you to work and write your Canadian exam under the supervision of a physician within your specialty. Contact the College of Physicians. You may be sent to underserviced area?

It is worth a try with your training mentioned.

Nursing is wonderful but is that what you really want to do.

I don't know about other schools in Ontario, but mine offers a compressed program (10 months a year versus 8) - Trent University in Peterborough - about 2 hours from Toronto. The compressed program is difficult if you don't have any electives before you start, but a great option for those of us with previous science degrees.

My speciality is psychiatry. I stopped my postgraduate training at the second year residency level in my country.

I'm at the beginning of a new life here.

It's very hard for international medical graduates to be selected in a residency program in Canada, not to take the exams. So our work can be in vain.

I'd love to practice medicine here but I don't want to make efforts which may lead to nowhere.
