Regis College Incoming Students for Fall 2009!

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

hi all,

i decided to start a new regis thread for all students who will be starting the accelerated bsn/msn program in september 2009! the other major regis thread is a little dated, and i wanted to give definite future students a chance to meet and greet in a separate thread!

i figure this will be a good place for any and all questions about the upcoming months ahead, along with getting to know our future classmates. :nurse:

please feel free to say hi or ask any or all questions in this thread - i personally am probably going to be throwing a little get together in boston (at my apartment) early summer for anyone who would like to meet before orientation in july!! :p

YAY! Another person! I got a HUGE package of info today and already emailed the contact woman about what groups I want because I would LOVE Fridays and weekends off so I can work a little for my mom to make a little extra money here and there. First choice Group 1 B and second choice Group 1A. Anyone else?

And jaquiep12... I sent in my FAFSA a while ago, but I'm not really sure what to do about the form they want filled out (I haven't gotten any info this is just from looking at their website) since it asks how many credits and I have no idea yet. I may email the contact woman for this and ask.

I also am really surprised they're making us buy a PDA our first year with reference programs... I expected it to be recommended or maybe required later on, but that's intense... Loans here I come :)

Hi jaquiep! I filled out my FAFSA in early March. I filled out some financial aid form the day I interviewed too and since then I have done no research. I took out a small loan for these summer courses I'm taking as my prereqs at Regis, but I have done no other research for the fall yet. I'm scared because lenders are VERY hesitant to provide money right now, and you can only get so much from federal loans. If you learn anything, please let us all know! I should start looking in late May.

I got my big packet today in the mail too - is it wrong that I got SUPER excited?!?! I'm such a nerd :nurse: I'm going to sit down tonight and pick which Group I'd like to be in and email her ASAP. I will post as soon as I decide! I have an iPhone, so I'm hoping to goodness I can just buy the software for it and not have to spend $400 on another PDA ...

Jennifer, TOTALLY second that ... Helloooo loans!! Between the PDA, the uniforms, equipment, etc... boy oh boy. Even still, I can't wait! :)

Haha Pamela I totally share your excitement. I have been going a mile-a-minute since I got it! I am going to be getting an iPhone I think (I mean I'll wait for them to send me the requirements/specs for it, but I have AT&T, so I think that would make the most sense for me). Def let me know when you decide about groups!

Oh also I'm bummed I'm not going to be able to make it to "uniform fitting day" because I have finals in New York that day... no way am I going to be able to drive home 3 hours for that and drive 3 hours back same day. So I'm going to have to figure that out. Hopefully it's not too complicated! I wish I could go though cuz it sounds convenient to get to order everything right there (not to mention fitting!).

OH ONE MORE THING haha (at least for this post--see my over excitement?!) can we say thank goodness for WINE colored pants and not WHITE like every other school has to wear. I was like so overly ecstatic about it my parents were laughing at me haha. But sers I was dreading wearing white pants every day to clinicals...and now we get to wear WINE COLORED! :)

I just got an email from Vera saying I got my first choice group, which is Group 2A. Very excited. What groups did you all get?

Hi Emily! Welcome to our little Regis group! I'm not sure if I will be attending the ice cream social because I have work, but I'll probably decide last minute.

I was thinking early July for a get together at my apartment for an official meet and greet. I'm going to be looking for a roommate come August 1st as well so maybe someone would wanna live with me? It would make commuting a lot easier. I was thinking on the D line in Newton, or in Waltham, Natick, etc. Just an FYI!

Thanks for setting up this thread! I'm starting the GM program also this fall--I'm interested in the family NP track. Congratulations to all--I've followed the posts for a while since being accepted back in Jan! I'm looking forward to meeting you; hopefully will be out of class in time to get over for the ice cream social. :D

By the way, I just spent some time looking for an AHA CPR course online. You might want to get on this soon--the beginner course (for those who have not previously been certified with the AHA) isn't offered very often, and I was lucky to find one on June 10. The next time it would be offered at the location I prefer would be in September! The recertification course is offered much more frequently--twice a month--but for many of us going into the direct entry program, the beginner Basic Life Support course (BLS for Health Care Providers) is the one we'd need. :paw:

I think it depends where you're looking. The place where I am taking it offers it once a month, so May 22, June 16, July 1, and August 31. I will probably do the June one. But if your area is limited it is great to give people a heads up to check out their own areas. Thanks!
