Reformed Criminal Needs Job

I have a criminal record which I had sealed recently and I now want to submit my application for LPN licensure. I am a recent graduate.

I am wondering if anyone else has a similar story and can help me through this?

It was a misdemeanor and I was never arrested or put in jail. The case was dismissed after a 1 year period which I got into no trouble. It happened 12 years ago.

But the rules of the nursing board read so strick that I am afraid that even with the record sealed it might not be enough.

I am a good person-honest!;)

It would help people respond if they knew which state you

are planning on applying to take the exam.

two questions we seem to be encountering more and more often have to do with the effects of a criminal history on nursing licensure:

  • is it possible to become licensed as a nurse if you have a criminal history?
  • what happens if you are charged or convicted of a crime after licensure?

these are questions that can not be answered by the membership of allnurses. the only reliable source of information is your state board of nursing.
