Published

Maybe someone can help me with this confusing nurse recruiter's questions. Please give examples in your experience. Thanks.

1. Tell us a time when you had to conform to a policy with which you did not agree?

2. How to deal with dissapointment and turned it into a learning experience?

3. How to deal with a difficult patient for a family member?

What about these questions is confusing you? They are typical and have been used in interviews for decades. Think back to your own experiences, whatever they may be, and I'm sure you'll be able to come up with your own examples of how you dealt with each situation.

Just write down some experiences that answer the questions.

If you really, really, can't think of one, don't make something up, just write that you've never been in that situation before.

Questions #1 is tough. I often don't have issues with policies but I am in nursing school so I haven't been out in the real world yet. I've had issues with our nursing departments violation of policy and dealt with this by writing a letter to the dean as it was outlined in the student handbook but that's about it.

Question #2 seems pretty standard. They want to know how you turned a negative experience into something good. How have you learned from your mistakes basically. Try and think about times in your life you have been rejected or failed at something. Then, think about what you have learned from these experiences and how you have applied this knowledge to succeed in the future.

Question #3 is worded strangely. I don't think I understand the question. I know interviewers will often ask, "how would you deal with a difficult patient?" Maybe seek clarification with the recruiter for this question. In interviews I know its okay to ask for clarification with questions so maybe that applies here as well?

GOOD LUCK!

These are v. typical interview questions and I don't see what's "confusing" about them. Best wishes!
