I try pretty hard to remain anonymous on this forum - wont' divulge how. I see others describing situations in very detailed posts, also listing state info or a supposedly first name. Wondering if anyone has ever had the experience of someone recognizing the situation described in the post and knowing that the post is about problems with that person. I imagine that could cause real problems at work. Currently in a situation where my coworker seems to know something "by osmosis", wondering if this could be how or if the coworker is fishing.

I learned a long while ago, from another site that I no longer post at, that it's unwise to divulge details of your location, personal information, etc. There are way more lurkers than there are posters, and some are not benevolent. Internet stalking is very real, and some mischievious people are very computer saavy.

I generally don't share with others that I post here because I don't want to be identified. I'm just a little paranoid.

I know there is at least one person who knows my real name and she knows the name I post under on another board. I post under one of those names on an EMS board and someone from there has posted here a few times and knows I am the same person. Other than that, I don't think anyone has much of a clue who I really might be.

When I post or vent or whatever, I try to keep all of the important facts accurate, but I honestly change some of them that aren't important...gender of the person I am venting about, locations, and other factors that could identify me, my coworkers, or my patients. It isn't completely honest, but it allows me to blow off steam without everyone knowing details that could be potentially troblesome.

I've always been an open person. Anything I say here I am unashamed of, and violates no standards, legal, ethical or otherwise. If I am called in to management for posting here ever, I will tell them how ridiculous it is to chastise me for being on a public board speaking of public things. I mean, really.

I considered that my current manager would probably try and find me online, but I like him and trust him and am ok with him knowing anything about me that might be online. I post with this username on other boards. I don't belong to any weird boards, just boards about music and being a mommy and stuff like that. No shame there! If he wants to know that I love Charles Mingus and Patti Smith, and that I worry about how to raise my child, he is welcome to that information

I have to be honest I think I am fairly easily recognisable, but I am open with my views in work and the same here. I don't have much of a problem with anyone I work with knowing I post here, I hope I offer useful advice occasionally.

I do try not to post anything too contraversial but my opinion on things are out there for all to see.

There can't be too many nutty motorcycling nurse practitioners / managers out there in the UK I guess.
