hi there
Has anyone ever tried to get nurse registration in America, I chose the Psychiatry pathway for my training in 2001 but now want to migrate to the US. Does anyone have any information on whether they will accept this training and if not, what options are there for me.

Moved to the international forum as per the red banner.
There are several UK nurses that have applied to the US and some did OK and some had to make hours up to meet US requirements. A lot will depend on what your transcripts state. My suggestion would be decide on which state you plan to work, check on their website what requirements are necessary for International trained nurse and if CGFNS is required it is usually CES and that will do a breakdown on your training. Your transcripts need to show both clinical and theory hours on Paeds, mental Health, Obstetrics and General Adult

You will have to have your transcripts assessed and then take the NCLEX. I am not sure if you have to take the language test (CGFNS) as it was not needed when I moved over in 1993.
Are you going through an agency on on your own?
I am doing it alone because I havent been able to find an agency in Sydney
Thought you were coming from the UK?
I trained in the UK and worked there for a little while before moving to Australia.
OK, got ya, sorry was getting confused.
Try googling to find US based agencies. Try
www.nursesrx.com as one place to start. I came over here with an agency but they were US based.
Funny, I trained in UK, lived in US and moving to NZ in 2-3 yrs!
