After you get your license in California, you contact the state BON of Illinois,http://www.idfpr.com/, and go through the process of applying for an application in that state. Each state differs in how they offer their licenses to nurses from other states, but they all do it and it's no big deal, but you have to contact the state yourself.
From BON website here specifically for LPNs: http://lmi.ides.state.il.us/licensure/n/237.htm
RECIPROCITY/ENDORSEMENT: a. Must show proof of graduation from an approved practical nursing program and meet all of the theory and clinical practice.
b. Must show proof of current licensure in another U.S. jurisdiction.
c. Must submit certification of licensure status from all states in which licensure has ever been granted.
d. Must show proof of passage of an examination recognized by the Department of Professional Regulation.

Thanks so much for this information. This helps a lot. I understand from reading some of the blogs that it is no longer reciprocity that I would need to apply for but rather an endorsement to the state I would be applying for, do you know if this is accurate?
Thanks again
