Reciprocity...

Hi. I am currently a student in a LPN program in California and am graduating this year. However, I plan on moving and working in Massachusetts soon after I finish and I was wondering if it would be easier to move first and take the NCLEX test in Massachusetts or take it in California and then apply for reciprocity in Massachusetts? If I do take the second option, is California part of the Nursys verification service? Thanks for your help.

How about if i have a license in California, then i want to move in New Jersey. Do i have to work in California first before i can move to New Jersey? How many months or years? I've already applied for Visa Screen, do i have to send those requirements by mail again if i apply for CES? or Will CGFNS just use what i've sent for my Visa Screen? Thank you very much.

No you do not have to work in CA before moving to NJ. Not sure I know if done the other way ie CES then VSC you do not have to send again but may be worth contacting them. Be aware CA will not issue a hard license because you do not have a SSN and will not get one until in the US with a valid work permit. There is a sicky in the International forum which explains what to do as you have no license to endorse so slightly different procedure to follow

oh and.. if i endorse to another state... will my california license be no longer valid? is it possible to be licensed to two states? thank you very much! =)

You can have a valid license in many states as long as you meet requirements and pay fees

ooh.. thanks! what is the title of the topic in the international forum? thanks silverdragon! =)

Plenty of good information in the International forum especially on current immigration issues. The sticky I mentioned is titled California for initial licensure

I am going to school in NY. Does anybody know what other states have the same educational requirements? I am trying to figure out if I can move to California after I graduate. Or does anybody know where I could find out that information? Thanks :uhoh3:

Hello fellow nurses! I just passed the NCLEX-RN here in California and plan to work in NY. I read that NY requires CGFNS to evaluate credentials because I got my nursing degree outside US. I also read in forums that some nurses just let the CA Board of Nursing take care of the endorsement. Can someone give me an idea on what do I really need to accomplish first? Thank you.

Aside from the states that are part of the nurse licensure compact, are there any other states that have reciprocity where I can work with one RN license that is also accepted in another state? Thank you.

As long as you meet state requirements and have already passed NCLEX then I can't see any obstacle to obtaining a license via endorsement. We see many travel nurses post that they have licenses in many states

Does that mean I have to sign up for a license in that other state or are there states that would for instance allow me to use my nursing license from one state in another state? I had heard that OH license might also be allowed in Florida? Do you know of any states that will use the same license as is accepted with the nurse licensure compact....

If you plan on moving to a new state you have to apply for endorsement and meet requirements, there are no ways round it. This is the same as someone living in a compact state. If they move to live in new residence in new state and do not have same residence in old state they have to apply for endorsement their compact license is no longer valid.

If I have a Vermont license I need to apply endorsement for Ohio? one of the requirements for Ohio is CGFNS-CES. Should I really spend another $385 for this evaluation when I dealt with it already with Vermont?

I am confused.

thanks.

No, if you already have CES done you just need to pay CGFNS I think it is $60 for Additional CES report recipients

A friend just told me she paid $350 to request copy of her CES from CGFNS although she wasn't req'd. anymore to submit school transcripts, $30 for transfer of license from Vermont and $100 fee for PA license. Wow, I don't know where to get these money.

Thank you Silverdragon, I am still hoping it's $60.
