Hi fellow nurses... I'm an RN from CT and am in the process of applying for a license in PA. CT does not require continuing education but PA does. Can someone explain to me how that works? I live in CT but plan on working temporarily in PA for the summer. Am i required to keep up on CEUs?

Thanks!

Sarah

If/when you renee your PA license you will need to have completed however many CEUs required by the PA BON.

If you want to work in PA, then you need to play by the PA BON's rules. Generally, BONs want CEUs when it comes to license renewal time, so if you're not planning to keep up your PA license after the summer, don't worry about it. Though IMO, doing CEUs on your own just to keep your own knowledge fresh and current is never a bad idea.

However, if the PA BON requires CEUs in order for you to endorse into PA, then get those CEUs. Because if that's the case, no CEUs = no license.

Thanks for the info!
