I know it's super obnoxious when people ask the same question over and over, and I know that people ask about reciprocity all the time, but mine is a special case I sware!
Ok, here's the deal. I'm currently enrolled in a CNA class in California. I am getting married in December, and relocating to North Carolina. From what I understand from having read the instructions on how to receive reciprocity, they want a pay stub from your current job. The problem? Well, there are only a couple of months between my graduation, certification, wedding, and move! In other words, I won't have worked as a CNA yet.
Here's my question, do you think they will grant me reciprocity if I have certification but I am not employed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!

I am not absolutely sure if they will offer you certification, but they may allow you to just re-take the exam in NC. As long as you have your certificate of completion for the program, I don't see why they wouldn't. Are you able to work part-time or per diem, just to get the pay stub and a little experience?
I don't know if anyone would hire me for a couple months worth of work. Do you think they might? I can't work the first two months after a graduate because ill be traveling but I could possibly work for two months before leaving. What type of company should I look for? I don't know how this all works. Sorry? Thanks for being patient with me.

When you pass your test and are certified, why not volunteer as a CNA at a nursing home....it's my understanding in most states that it's allowed if you have a signature (from the DON) that verifies you volunteered 8 hrs. or more within your CNA job capacity. Fax this verification along with your CA certification to NC board of nursing.
That's a really good idea-thank you very much! That is great information to have- I knew I could count on you guys to give me solid answers!!
Thank you very much!

Wow, I came in to ask the same question.
I'll be finish my CNA class in May and moving from Md. to NC in June.
My issue is in Md, you have to also get a GNA license at additional cost/time to work in a nursing home. I don't know what I'm going to do.

I understand exactly what you are going through, I was certified in Maryland and I wanted to go work in Virginia, however the only way you can get and endorsement in Virginia you would have to be GNA certified. I never paid to take the GNA exam so i switched my license to D.C because it was such a big problem for me in Maryland.
