I was wondering what your GPA was when you were accepted into the program? I'm currently at OU and thinking about transferring, but my GPA isn't outstanding.

Also, I was reading online and it says grades earned at another school are not calculated for your Madonna GPA. Does this mean I would have to start all over if I transfer?

No but it is preferred to have at least 12 credits at Madonna when applying to the upper division nursing. I am a new nursing student there and I really love it. I actually transferred from OU because I didn't wanna wait the amount of time it would take for me to graduate from there and I am so glad I did. The credit thing wasn't too bad for me because I had quite a few gen. ed's and additional pre-req's to take there so I did and I applied and got accepted on my first try. So far I really like the program althought I'm super new to it and I will graduate the year I would be starting OU's program so I'm happy. Any more info needed leave me a msg :)

What is upper division? Yeah the wait is ridiculous thats why I'm considering Madonna. Did you take ALL of your pre-req's at oakland and then transfer in to take a few more at MU?

What was your GPA from oakland when you transferred? What about your GPA from MU when you applied for the actual program? If you dont mind me asking, of course :)

Hello! Chiming in here..... Do you know what the cutoff GPA is?

Hi! I took most classes at occ and a couple at oakland and then i had some additional pre-req's that u can only take at madonna so i took those and some general ed's classes. my gpa from occ wasn't that great i think i had a 3.2?? not even sure, sorry.. my mu gpa was 3.7 but they take more into consideration then just gpa.

midido- I have not idea about a cut-off I know most of my classmates have good gpa's but i couldn't even guess at that, sorry..You could try asking an intake advisor

According to their website the cut off for the nursing program is a 2.75.

Thanks for the responses guys :)

How many pre req's did you have to take that were only required at Madonna?

Well I doubt that is the actuall cut-off for admitted students. From what I've heard which is really just hearsay is usually if you have at least a >3.5 you should be okay but I know that was a few classes ago that I heard that. The extra pre-req's I had to take was micro w/lab because I had one without, statistics, therapeautic nutrition which was in addition to basic nutrition, culture and communication for healthcare professional, and pathophysiology.

Wow, that sounds like a full year of more pre-req's I wasn't expecting that

Yes tahts why I was worried and tehn what if I didn't make it in..But I did and I'm glad I did because even with those extra pre-req's I'm still finishing before I would even ahve started at Oakland. The nursing program at Madonna is also only 5 semesters so its about two years and no wait, I applied for the nursing program in July or August and started in January. they do apps twiuce a year like Oakland.

As a Madonna grad, I am pretty happy with the way they prepared me. The critical thinking is cultivated very well there. I always see Madonna grads on specialty units like an ICU or ER. The teachers there **** me off at times, but made me anal retentive which really helps when you are a new grad and trying to go through orientation in a hospital. Don't know what the GPA is, but I have heard it is getting higher due to the high volume of students and applicants. It was expensive, but worth it.
