received ATT in California after 13 months from Graduating from PH

World Registration

Hello everyone, I know many of you are wondering how I was able to do it. But first lets look back at the events leading to this moment. I Graduated last march 2012 and applied to the board of Nursing within days of coming back to the US. the process was slow at first, receiving letters of more documents that needed to be sent in and then finally after 7 months I have received the letter that told me I needed to take MS and OB again!!! I went online looking for answers on allnurses.com however I didn't know there were so many just like me who were in the same dilemma. I was shocked and a little discourage.

so I began at once to call every nursing school in California and only 3 schools were willing to accommodate with hundreds on the waiting list. I knew this was no good. this wasn't acceptable but I just sent in the requirements to be put on the waiting list. I then decided to continue my search outside of California, I wrote to every nursing school accredited by CCNE starting from the west coast working my way to the east coast. I was already in Arizona when I received a reply that gave me some hope but it wasn't meant to be.

I then turned to prayer. my mom gave me a prayer to Saint Theresa and I said it every day for 5 days as instructed before 11 A.M. I followed the prayer asking God to help me. and by the 5th day after lunch time I received a letter from a school (I cannot mention names, or contact information as stated by the terms of agreement).

the letter stated:

Good morning *****, I have been slow in my response as I wanted to make sure I had the correct information. below is a copy of the policy which would allow you to enroll in the classes.

Ob will be offered in this upcoming semester which begins Nov *, there is also a med-surg class the first in a two part series which will be offered beginning Nov *, thus you would need to be prompt in your efforts to contact the office of admissions. (it was already Oct 17), we look forward to your response.

Sincerely

Flower (this isn't her real name but it is a type of flower)

from this point I couldn't believe it. I had already contacted nearly 100 schools and this was the first that gave me hope. I replied as soon as possible asking follow up question after follow up question. she gave me instruction to notify the register for my intent along with the undrergraduate coordinator. everything was going so smoothly. I could not believe it. How come? what was the catch?? but I didn't want to say that I just wanted to enroll. this could be my only chance to. then I had to ask, does it come with clinical components? then I she replied yes.

I was so happy. I made arrangements to meet with the undergrad coordinator and had a private tour of the campus. I could not believe that this was happening to me, so smoothly and I was able to comply with all the requirements needed for enrollment. A week later I moved to ****** and buying my scrubs for clinicals.

the first day of class everyone was welcoming to me and these people are some of the coolest people I know for they welcomed me into their cohort. both classes were difficult but then I knew that I would not waste this opportunity. i'm here to study and to pass. work now, play later...

my stay at ******** university was really a lived experience. I had learned so much here from my clinical instructors and my professors. along the way I made some really good friends that helped me throughout the semester.

after 4 months of school I had done it! I passed both classes and complied with CA-BRN. It took nearly 2 months to receive my eligibility letter and then my ATT. I am now scheduled to take the exam next month.

I am writing this post to give others hope. someone told me to write my experience to give hope to others. So don't give up and remember to keep prayer in mind. it really works.

Hi Everyone! I'm new to this site. I've received my letter from CA BON stating that I need to take OB, MSN, and Psych. I just want to know if any of you guys knows what school is accepting foreign grad students with subject deficiency. I graduate last March 2013. I already called a lot of schools listed on CA.gov's website. So far I got Evergreen college, but they are starting classes on January 2015. Thanks for anyone who can help! :(

Hi SoCalNurse88

I'm currently having subject deficiency problem and I'm already losing hope that I'll be able to find a school. If you could send me an email and tell me what you did I would very much appreciate it. Congrats on passing the NCLEX!!

Here is my email: [email protected]

Hi mimiamparo06,

Congrats on your success! I'm currently having the same issue like yours. If you can send me an email I would very much appreciate it! I would be in your debt if you could help me. Thanks in advance.

After passing the nclex RN I had surgery on my right knee for a torn Acl. I didn't know how long I would be out. I didnt know what to do the next couple of months rather than just doing PT. Then around May I finally decided it was time to start applying. Then the next challenge came. 1 year of experience in an acute hospital preferred. Most of the hospitals required this. I didn't know what to do. I just started applying to every hospital either online or in person. Then the denial letters came saying I was not qualified. I had applied to new grad programs but I too was not qualified for I had graduated in 2012. I decided to turn to prayer saying the prayer that got me into the school. It worked, I got 3 job offers and one with a 4 month preceptorship program.

I am so happy to announce that I have landed a job at an acute hospital with 4 months of preceptorship. I was so afraid that maybe I would not get the job after being out of school for over a year without any experience luckily this hospital was willing to give me a chance. So to everyone do not give up, if there is a will there is a way. I start next month. Thank you everyone for your support and emails.

Hello to everyone. I just want to give my personal exp about overcoming concurrency issue. I graduated last April 2012 and received CA letter last August 2012 stating the need to retake MS and OB to fill the concurrency issue. While waiting for the slot in the univ, I decided to take NCLEX in Hawaii. Hence, i'll be utilizing the license for CA state endorsement upon completion of the required courseworks. Fortunately, last May 2013 I started my schooling at AZ in one of their private university. Currently, I am just waiting for the CA BRN to verify my transcripts and upon verification of my license from Hawaii, they'll just send the copy of my license in CA.

It was stated in my letter from CA that prior approval of the CA BRN is required upon completion of the required coursework in another state. Therefore, I waited first for the go sign of my analyst before enrolling in the program.

Anyone who's in need of the school details, just let mw know and I'm very willing to share everything. :)

hi!!! can you please send me informations about the school? thanks so much god bless!!! [email protected]

Hey guys. Just an update regarding my stats at CA BRN. After completing my deficiencies at GCU Phoenix, Arizona, I finally had my CA RN license way back on april 2014. It only took a while for the BRN to process my papers because of their lags in their system. Other than that, I encountered no problems regarding my transcript from GCU.

It was Grand Canyon Univ at Phoenix Arizona. It was under their BSN Undergrad Med Surg I and II and Maternal Nursing.

Just a tip when calling and inquiring schools. Let them know that you need non-degree studies on your needed subjects both lecture and clinicals. Most of the time, once the enrolment advisors heard about inquiries regarding "non degree studies", they'll easily hinted that it is our concurrency issue we've been talking about.

Hello mimiamparo06, Just wanna know how many months did you take the subjects? Can you email me some more details? My email [email protected]... Thanks alot
