received ATT in California after 13 months from Graduating from PH

Published

Hello everyone, I know many of you are wondering how I was able to do it. But first lets look back at the events leading to this moment. I Graduated last march 2012 and applied to the board of Nursing within days of coming back to the US. the process was slow at first, receiving letters of more documents that needed to be sent in and then finally after 7 months I have received the letter that told me I needed to take MS and OB again!!! I went online looking for answers on allnurses.com however I didn't know there were so many just like me who were in the same dilemma. I was shocked and a little discourage.

so I began at once to call every nursing school in California and only 3 schools were willing to accommodate with hundreds on the waiting list. I knew this was no good. this wasn't acceptable but I just sent in the requirements to be put on the waiting list. I then decided to continue my search outside of California, I wrote to every nursing school accredited by CCNE starting from the west coast working my way to the east coast. I was already in Arizona when I received a reply that gave me some hope but it wasn't meant to be.

I then turned to prayer. my mom gave me a prayer to Saint Theresa and I said it every day for 5 days as instructed before 11 A.M. I followed the prayer asking God to help me. and by the 5th day after lunch time I received a letter from a school (I cannot mention names, or contact information as stated by the terms of agreement).

the letter stated:

Good morning *****, I have been slow in my response as I wanted to make sure I had the correct information. below is a copy of the policy which would allow you to enroll in the classes.

Ob will be offered in this upcoming semester which begins Nov *, there is also a med-surg class the first in a two part series which will be offered beginning Nov *, thus you would need to be prompt in your efforts to contact the office of admissions. (it was already Oct 17), we look forward to your response.

Sincerely

from this point I couldn't believe it. I had already contacted nearly 100 schools and this was the first that gave me hope. I replied as soon as possible asking follow up question after follow up question. she gave me instruction to notify the register for my intent along with the undrergraduate coordinator. everything was going so smoothly. I could not believe it. How come? what was the catch?? but I didn't want to say that I just wanted to enroll. this could be my only chance to. then I had to ask, does it come with clinical components? then I she replied yes.

I was so happy. I made arrangements to meet with the undergrad coordinator and had a private tour of the campus. I could not believe that this was happening to me, so smoothly and I was able to comply with all the requirements needed for enrollment. A week later I moved to ****** and buying my scrubs for clinicals.

the first day of class everyone was welcoming to me and these people are some of the coolest people I know for they welcomed me into their cohort. both classes were difficult but then I knew that I would not waste this opportunity. i'm here to study and to pass. work now, play later...

my stay at ******** university was really a lived experience. I had learned so much here from my clinical instructors and my professors. along the way I made some really good friends that helped me throughout the semester.

after 4 months of school I had done it! I passed both classes and complied with CA-BRN. It took nearly 2 months to receive my eligibility letter and then my ATT. I am now scheduled to take the exam next month.

I am writing this post to give others hope. someone told me to write my experience to give hope to others. So don't give up and remember to keep prayer in mind. it really works.

Lyly, you mentioned that your close friends got their deficient courses from a So CAL school and got their ATT and soon to take the NCLEX-RN in CA, can you ask your friends where that or those schools in CA were at? Since many of us cannot afford to move out of state, thanks!

Been reading this threads for awhile as a "lurker", and I came across yours.....I just had to give my 2 cents/pesos/deniro/rupees/euros-whatever....

Ya know, if you're going to post on a forum like this, and not say which school you went to and/or what state...It just isn't right to us readers/nursing graduates here who are also in need of desperate help....It's as if you are showing off that you got your eligibility, while we are just left in the dark in the dust. For what purpose is your post if not to share with the rest of us your information?

And yet you cannot even help us out? Now don't get me wrong, but this whole part of the forum is about helping each other out.

If you didn't want to say where you went and what you did, in my humble opinion, you should of kept that information to yourself and just of been humble instead of rubbing it in our faces as if we are helpless to overcome our challenges while you mock us with what you have achieved. Is that fair? Temptation becommeth thee, because of thine nature?

You're such a tease.....thanks for showing us off with what you posted. It gives us hope....

Share your blessings dear....so that all of us may be enlightened.

That's my 2 centavos.

you know i was just sharing my story to give others hope. and you know i don't like your tone, your attacking me for just sharing my story. i don't know what kind of nurse you might become probably not the compassionate type just by reading your reply. im sorry this is how you feel about me but my intent was never bad. Good luck in your search my friend

How am I attacking you? And what tone? You attack me in being a nurse and talk about compassion yet you do not have the same in sharing the true facts of your story of the very information that we seek? Everything is not about you my dear. This world is not about any one of us, this forum is about sharing. And it's just too bad you do not want to share your blessings and joy of finding hope that you have found. You talk about your prayer to Saint Theresa, yet you cannot share with us your blessing? Does God/Jesus/Mama Mary/the Saints not tell us all Christians and all religious walks of life to not covet what we have in our possession but to share in our joys and wealth? Give me a break love. Even if your intent was not that of evil or sin, it is still a sin to hide from us the very information that we all here in the forums seek. That is why we are here -- we are not here to gloat, or to argue or to talk down on others. We are here to seek a creative ends to the problem we all have.......and that my dear is what you are keeping from the rest of us. And to you as well my friend, good luck on your nclex because if you are with compassion and understanding you will surely pass it, and then surely let us know about it in your own glorious way as you did here in this very thread. God Bless.

Here is what I think......I think the OP was clear in her post that the Terms of the agreement with the school

I received a letter from a school (I cannot mention names, or contact information as stated by the terms of agreement)
which she is legally bound by and is respecting that agreement.

It is also the Terms of Service of this site to......

Please do not give out personal identifying information about yourself or others. Do not name names where anyone could identify any person in any facility including your nursing programs or place of employment.

I think the OP sharing her story is to give anyone in this situation that through perseverance and hard work coupled with hope and prayer accompanied by a loving famly......good things happen. So that everyone in this situation if you do your homework there are solutions out there. I think the OP showed fortitude and the critical thinking skills it takes to make a great nurse....she needed an answer and she found one.

I also think we need to be respectful of each other.

Congrats glad to hear you finally got the ATT would like to know more about the school here's my email [email protected] good luck

Bad news everyone the school where I was able to take the classes is no longer accepting students. my friend emailed the dean this afternoon and received this message, "We will not be accepting any non-admitted students at this time. We may consider it in the future, but it will not be until March of 2014 and that will depend on the number of traditional students. We have accepted students in the past, but are not currently accepting students who were educated in the Philippines." I was a little shocked when I heard about the last part. I wonder if the students that are enrolled right now are not doing so well in both classes.:(. I will be glad to entertain questions from anyone for another week just send a message, If I don't reply right away it is because a lot of people have messaged me and I am trying to reply to each one by one at the same time prepare for the board.
