received ATT in California after 13 months from Graduating from PH
Hi steppybay, thanks for the support. I haven't been checking this site for a while but I'm surprised to see how this thread continued to grow. So right now I have nearly completed close to 2 years working on MedSurg on the central coast. Over that time I managed to be employee of the month of September 2014, and nominated for a daisy award april '15 Last February I began to search for a new job back in SoCal. Luckily through networking I managed to land an ER RN position at a magnet hospital. I encourage all those never to lose hope because dreams come true. You just have to work for it and believe in yourself.

received ATT in California after 13 months from Graduating from PH
Hi there Steppybay. At first I thought this was just a preceptorship program but then on my first day of orientation there was a nurse educator who greeted me and welcome to the first batch of the New Grad program. I couldn't believe it. It really was a new grad program. There was 3 selected into the program and it's like we are the first test subjects. I'm required to go to classes every other week, and shadow a member of the health care team like RT, dietary, relief nurse, etc. they also gave me a binder and inside was things that had to be complete like sign offs of procedures and my own evaluation along with evaluation of my preceptor. It looks like after my 4th month of orientation I will begin my 90 day eval. But things have been really good. I heard some good feedback of my peers that's I'm doing pretty good. I did have to move to the central coast but it was well worth it. The hospital is a member of dignity health a very large hospital network I believe top 5. I am very fortunate to be given this opportunity and I I'll always do my best. Sorry for the late reply time flies it's already September.

After passing the nclex RN I had surgery on my right knee for a torn Acl. I didn't know how long I would be out. I didnt know what to do the next couple of months rather than just doing PT. Then around May I finally decided it was time to start applying. Then the next challenge came. 1 year of experience in an acute hospital preferred. Most of the hospitals required this. I didn't know what to do. I just started applying to every hospital either online or in person. Then the denial letters came saying I was not qualified. I had applied to new grad programs but I too was not qualified for I had graduated in 2012. I decided to turn to prayer saying the prayer that got me into the school. It worked, I got 3 job offers and one with a 4 month preceptorship program. I am so happy to announce that I have landed a job at an acute hospital with 4 months of preceptorship. I was so afraid that maybe I would not get the job after being out of school for over a year without any experience luckily this hospital was willing to give me a chance. So to everyone do not give up, if there is a will there is a way. I start next month. Thank you everyone for your support and emails. socalnurse88

Hi there avi8tor69, i am sorry you feel that way about my post. i assure you i didnt mean to cause you any upset. However i did promise the school that i would not recommend to anyone else because of an incident that happened causing the school to no longer accepting students educated from the Philippines. please reread my post on May 12. i dont know exactly what had happen nor do not know that school shut down its doors until a friend sent me this text stating what happened in an email she received that day. Its ashamed because now i cant help others, i do have information about others schools but im not 100% guarantee what their status is not accepting international students. if anyone is interested about the other schools they have my email and i usually respond in a timely fashion. and also avi8tor69 thou shall not judge unless he/she will want to be judge back. #imjustsaying

I agree with you Jhenea_AZN. if you never try you will never know. who knows right? I will pray that you get accepted into the nursing program. it is something unique and quite different than clinical in the Philippines :) and i am sure you will enjoy like i did SoCalNurse88

Hi there gulliblegabby sorry for the late reply ive been very busy lately. i graduated from SPUM. yes they provided all the necessary documents however it was me who gave them the documents to fill out. you can find the documents on: rn.ca.gov. and look for the application.and just submit to your school the necessary documents that should be completed by the dean. there maybe a chance that you will have the same problem as myself and others.i think it is important to apply first because you may or may not have to take MS and OB if your cases are concurrent. thanks again for liking my story. if i dont respond please dont hesitate to write in my email. as for everyone sorry for the delay in responses via allnurses and yahoo messanger. i am working on answering all email concerns questions and comments. thank you :) SoCalNurse88

hi there Jhenea_AZN, the validity of the ATT is good for 1 year. each time you take nclex you will be given a new ATT. but that cost $350 (150 to CAL-BRN, $200 to Pearsonvue), also the cal BRN keeps yours files good for 2 years after you take nclex. Good Luck!!!!

Hi there Abycadaby! yes that would be the best thing to do at the moment because schools are requiring a letter as proof to show deficiencies. it is also a good idea to check with schools if there are any openings allowed to take MS and OB. there might be a waiting list for those schools. it might even be better to venture outside California to find schools as a back up. DO NOT APPLY YET WITH PEARSON VUE testing center until you have your ATT otherwise you have 1 year from the moment you apply to finish all the required courses instead of 3 years required from the CA-BRN to complete your deficiencies. here's how it works: first apply at: www.rn.ca.gov (I believe this is 150) then after submit all requirements from diploma, transcripts, etc. the board will reply to you in a couple of weeks (can take anywhere from 3-6 months) then the board might require you to take additional classes After you pass your classes submit your transcript you will receive your ATT by email (takes about 1.5 months) once your receive your ATT log on to wwww.pearsonvue.com/nclex/ Register to take the test ($200) then your are set
