Reccomendations Question: Stony Brook BSN 2011

Published

So I am currently a student at Stony Brook University considering applying for the 2 year BSN program at stony brook. I am currently an undergraduate on course with the pre-nursing program. My gpa is sub par but I am steadily bringing it up. The rest of my resume should be quite decent including volunteer work and many other activities. The thing is that the school is so big and the program requires 3 recommendations, yet I have yet to really interact with many of my professors since the classes are so big, and on top of that many of them are complete A**holes...

So my question is, how important are reccomendations? Would it be possible to get into the program with none? >

I know many of you will say, talk to your professors, go to office hours, and what not, but regardless of this, do you think its possible to get into the SBU nursing program without ANY reccomendations?

Your application won't even be considered if you don't submit the 3 recommendations because they are required. Volunteer work is optional to make your application stand out or look better, but recommendations are a requirement. I felt uncomfortable and awkward asking 2 of my professors for a recommendation, but it turned out they were very happy to do it and extremely nice. The third one I got from the lady that was in charge of me as a volunteer (can't remember her title) at SB hospital. Hope that helps

Unfortunately you will need to have 3 recommenders or else the application will not be submitted. I too am an SBU transfer student and I have applied to the two year program (waiting to hear from them). And I know the website wouldn't allow me to submit my application until my recommenders submitted their recommendations. They do this because there is no interview process. Sorry
