Reason for leaving?

Published

I recently left a job where I received 5 weeks of training on a busy tele floor at a long term acute care hospital. As a new grad I felt it was not enough time, but it is not the hospital's fault and I am not sure how to answer this question on applications or interviews. Any advice is appreciated.

Thank you,

Did you actually finish orientation when you left? If you didn't it may not be considered as if you actually worked because you were still training. You may not need to include the job in your resume but I'm not sure. I don't want to mislead you here but It's just a suggestion. Did you like the specialty and just didin't like the training? How long did you work there?

The job may still come up in a background check. Do you have other work experience? I left after 6 months of working my first RN job. I recommend being honest with the interviewer and just let them know that your previous position wasn't fulfilling you or whatever the reason. You say you felt this was not "enough time", was there a reason you couldn't hang on til the end of orientation? You could always say the position was exacerbating your health, etc. You don't have to go into detail. Did you leave in good terms with your employer? That will also greatly improve your situation.
