is it really a long wait for CPNE?

I am thinking about enrolling in EC but I am turned off when I hear about 6-9 month waits to take the CPNE. Is this true?

Yes. Save the maximum number of gen ed classes for last and do them while waiting.

I agree with Suesquatch. You will have plenty of time to prepare for your CPNE while you wait. You can work on gen ed classes or start taking required classes for a BSN program. Unfortunately the long wait is due to the large number of students together with not enough instructors and facilities. It is just something to be put up with as part of the process. Good luck with your educational plans.

Thanks. I have already taken AP I, II, English I, II, psych I. II, human growth and development, oral communication, and nutrition. I know I need micro and sociology. Can you think of anything else EC requires for the BSN that I can take while I wait?

You'll need a sociology. I don't know the rest off-hand.

Enroll. You have nothing to lose but under $100. And a license for more advanced practice to gain.

6 mo at the max...it's going to be shorter...

you could use that time to study for the cpne. it's a difficult exam, underestimated sometimes by a lot of people...

The hard part is not the wait, it is staying on task. A lot of people enroll and then can't get in a grove of study and test taking. My advice is take test #1 ( use to be called NC1) BEFORE you enroll. If you can teach and motivate yourself you should do fine but make sure before you enroll. I am not sure of the $100 risk mentioned I think is is more. This is do-able but not easy. Good luck Traci

Hey, I applied the end of December, live in New York State and opted for all of the centers here (4), and still don't have a date.
