i just had one of those personal "freak-out"moments, where i realize that i'm going to be "the rn." i'm going to be the one responsible for 10-12 patients every shift. i'm the one that's going to have to call the md and do the whole sbar-thing. i'm the one whose charting has to hold up in court. i'm the one that is going to have lpn's and cna's reporting to her. anyone else who is going to starting in on their first rn job soon having these moments of pure terror? yiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiikes!

I have 1 semester of school left and I have those feelings every once in a while, but I'm sure they will set in more as my graduation date approaches. I did a preceptorship this summer in hope that it will further prepare me and make me feel more confident in my RN role. Just wanted to let u know that your definitly not the only one who feels that way, and every RN was a new grad at one point, so we will get through. :nuke:

10-12 patients? where will you be working? I will want to stay far from them!
I'm in Rehab at a LTC facility--my patients are not in the acute stage, anymore. So yes, it will be very busy, but remember I will have other staff (LPN's, CNA's) helping to care for them. I will also not be the only RN working, so I'll have back-up when needed.
