RCC Nursing Fall 2020

Published

Hi, everyone!

Decided to create a forum for Riverside City College SON applicants for Fall 2020!

I submitted my application 2 weeks ago. Where are you all in terms of your application process?

@Chanster I'm sure you will. Everything will probably be online though and you guys may not be doing clinical at the hospitals.

Oh really? Are you currently in the program doing classes online?

Yes I am. They told us today that we will be having seminar online in the fall and doing virtual CNSL when not in the hospital. So for nursing 11 (which will be you guys), you will all probably have everything online with no hospital rotations.

This is great information! Great way to protect the students. I have friends in other programs that have to actually do rotations in clinical settings. I’m excited to see what awaits

Are you serious? That would be fantastic but I heard they want to open everything in July

Upperclassmen are doing hospital rotations, but N11 this semester wasn't allowed to, so I'm almost sure N11 next semester will definitely not be allowed to either.

That is what a faculty member told us today during seminar. Maybe things will change later, but that's the plan for now apparently.

Hi Everyone!

I also got accepted into the CEP for Fall 2020 and I'm super excited. However, I'm nervouse because of everything that's going on. It all seems uncertain but I'm sure we'll be fine. About the vaccines and all that, I have my records but I know there's a bunch of shots I still need to get. My PCP does not provide vaccines and I would love to get them done at RCC but the health center is closed. What do you guys think we should do? I emailed someone from the nursing school and they said to wait till June until RCC is (hopefully) open but I know Summer is online. I don't want to wait that long but IDK what to do.

Maybe you can call your insurance company and see if they can give you a list of providers in your area that accept your insurance. Give their offices a call and let them know you need vaccines for nursing school.

I ended up going to the Minute Clinic and they did three of my shots and ordered titers that I will get done at LabCorp. I'm not sure how much that will cost but I will keep you guys posted.

Thanks for the info. I still need 1 more titer done

Hey guys!

I’m looking for a lab that does affordable Polio Titers. My Dr. said that most hospitals aren’t requiring Polio anymore. The labs under my insurance aren’t equipped with the testing. So looks like I’ll have to pay out of pocket. Lmk

thanks
