reading about RAST as a diagnostic test for IgE antibodies to specific allergens {in my current textbook about assessment of allergic disorders}
when checking another source, it says RAST is a test of the 1970s and has been replaced in 1989 by superior test
what replaces RAST?
RAST is radioallergosorbent test

The ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) test was approved for allergy testing about that time I think. However, today its results are considered somewhat controversial. I'm not familiar with any physicians in my area using it. I'll try to locate a link with some information on the ELISA test.
thanks
