Rasmussen University - Fort Myers

Published

Hello everyone!

I was looking into Rasmussen College in Fort Myers, Florida. I was wondering if there was anyone who has attended or currently attending Rasmussen at the Fort Myers campus? What were/are your thoughts on the program? Since I already have a B.S. in Exercise Science, I was looking at doing the A-BSN, Second Degree option. I have already attended a Nursing Information Session with the school and it seems like a great opportunity. Just looking to get more insight about the program from people who have gone through it.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

thank you I'm actually thinking about jan 2020 now.I took the 1st step and called to talk with some about the program and looking to go to an info session this august ,and I will actually we attending the one in Illinois .

That is awesome! I think one of the great things about Rasmussen is the 4 different start dates. It is one of the reasons I chose Rasmussen over Keiser. It allowed me to start sooner, which means I would graduate/start working sooner. Let me know how the info session goes!

Alright, tomorrow I take my last two final exams for the quarter! If I get at least a 92% on my Health Assessment final and an 88% on my Critical Analysis final, I will finish out this quarter with a 4.0. I feel pretty good about my chances, but you never know. Each exam is at least 100 questions, so it will be interesting.

On an even better note, I recently took my proctored ATI Nutrition Assessment and scored a Level 3! As far as I know, there were only 6 out of 13 that got a passing score of Level 2 or higher. However, there is still one person I didn't hear from so I don't know what his score was. I am super happy I got my Level 3 because I studied hard for that one, especially because it asks a lot of questions about information not covered in the first quarter at Rasmussen.

I will update everyone more once my final grades are posted. I hope all of the other students out there are having a great quarter/semester!

I read the entire ATI Nutrition book, took practice exams A & B at least 5 times each, and and read my nutrition book. That helped me out a ton!

No problem! Good luck!

Sorry my response earlier was so short. I was in lecture. Using the focused review generated from the practice exams definitely helped. I don’t know if it has switched over to the new focused review. ATI made some changes to the focused review after I took my Nutrition exam. Have you taken any other ATIs yet? Nutrition was my first one, so I felt it was a little more difficult because it asked questions about medical conditions I hadn’t learned yet. Fortunately, I had a lot of experience with general nutrition. Wish you the best!

Thank you for this thread! I’ve been reading terrible reviews about the school but I signed up for info session here in Illinois at the end of the month because of your positivity. Good luck ❤️

Thank you! And good luck to you, as well!

I came across a ton of negative reviews, too. But after attending an info session and looking at the statistics for my campus' NCLEX pass rate, I decided on Rasmussen.

I honestly think most of the learning/experience is based on the individual. You have to be a willing participant and not expect everything to be spoon fed. I think if you go into nursing school at Rasmussen with this attitude, you will do just fine. There is a lot of information to cover in a short period of time, so discipline and time management is key. But school is very doable!

If you have questions about any study resources I have been using, just hit me up! ?

No I haven't taken any yet. I have just been doing the practice exams. I am going to try to test out of the Nutrition because I took it at another school.

Oh, ok. Hopefully you can test out! I took Human Nutrition for my first Bachelors, but Rasmussen told me I had to take it with them again. I am glad I did because this nutrition class was geared more towards nursing, whereas my first Human Nutrition course was just a general overview of nutrition.

I wish you the best!

Hello PitufinaFLRN,

What program are you looking to do? ABSN, RN to BSN, or ADN?

I believe (not 100%) that the RN to BSN is all online, but there may be a few in person classes. I thought Leadership was in person, but again, not 100% sure. I do know that two of my online classes do have RN to BSN students in them now.

For ABSN, they just launched a new curriculum, so I can't speak to how the schedule is working for those new students. I believe they moved Pathophysiology to on-campus from online.

The schedule also appears to change from quarter to quarter, depending on the classes the instructors are teaching. For instance, my Essentials class was on Mondays last quarter, but I know the cohort behind me has Essentials on Friday this quarter.

I really wish I could be of more help! I highly recommend attending an info session closer to the start date, as they will have a better idea of the schedule. Our class schedule usually gets released about 4 weeks before the start of the next quarter. I am in Week 6 of this quarter, so I should get my new schedule sometime in Week 9, or Week 10 at the latest. Each quarter is 11 weeks long with a 2 week break in between each quarter.

I hope I was able to provide at least some insight!

Thanks for your response. I'm planning to get my ADN but I don't know if I should just go for my bachelors. Can you give me an estimate of how much you will be paying for your ABSN? Supposedly they told me I just need a Humanities course and I go for the BSN. Thanks.
