Rasmussen University - Fort Myers

Published

Hello everyone!

I was looking into Rasmussen College in Fort Myers, Florida. I was wondering if there was anyone who has attended or currently attending Rasmussen at the Fort Myers campus? What were/are your thoughts on the program? Since I already have a B.S. in Exercise Science, I was looking at doing the A-BSN, Second Degree option. I have already attended a Nursing Information Session with the school and it seems like a great opportunity. Just looking to get more insight about the program from people who have gone through it.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thank you! And those last 69 days are going to fly by! I cannot believe I started this journey two years ago with pre-reqs at Florida Southwestern. I feel like I have grown so much since then.

I just want to say I appreciate your posts about your journey. I’m actually about to start mine at Rasmussen- Fort Myers campus. Although I’m doing the ADN program ,I start now in July. I also would love to work with children not sure in what capacity, but when I used to work in a children’s hospital I was always amazed at the amazing work they did in the NICU. Believe it or not your posts have given me quite the motivation to chase the goals I have starting off this quarter/ journey into nursing school. I did want to ask if by any chance do you have any advice on the three first classes I’m taking this upcoming quarter

NUR2063Essentials of Pathophysiology

NUR1055Introduction to Nursing

NUR2180Physical Assessment

- I would appreciate any tips and or advice. Once again congratulations ? on finishing nursing school , your NICU job acquisition, and pretty soon passing the NCLEX ?

Once again thanks for posting your journey

Thank you so much for answering me with your advice about not taking on any more classes than what is already planned in the curriculum. I really appreciate your good advice. I finally got a hold of my advisor, and she said the extra class wasn't even available during the Summer, so even if I was just checking for giggles, it was a moot point anyway. LOL Apparently Scholarly Communication in Nursing is not available during the Summer term.

I was anticipating there will be a lot of writing in this class and it's scheduled into the elective course in quarter 5. Well, there are two electives scheduled in quarters 2 and 5. There are 3 possible courses to choose from: Integrative Nursing, Contemporary Issues in Nursing, and Scholarly Communication in Nursing. I'm choosing Integrative this quarter, and then Scholarly in quarter 5. I'm doing this in preparation for Nurse Practitioner school, since I see these are the more popular courses they would like one to have taken in your BSN curriculum. Of course each program is different, but I've seen this in more than 2 programs and I want my options open.

Congratulations on graduating! ? ??? I'm soooo happy for you! I can imagine how hard it has been, but you did it, and you're probably at the top of your class, if not the top person, right? You certainly have inspired me to keep going; that it can be done. I lost some momentum as I said because of all the writing, and to be honest, my perfectionism in creating excellent papers. ? At least I got a 4.0 this quarter, but I was spending ALL my time stuck in front of the computer! No joke, my booty hurts from all the sitting! ? CONGRATS again on getting such great scores, your perseverance in the program, and your great grades, and future dream job! Good luck on your move!?

I can give a summary of my experience at the Orlando campus so far. I don't want to bring any negativity to your blog, so I will first check with you. It's not a great report unfortunately. I'm hoping since it is a fairly new campus that it will get better organized. One can always have hope, right?

Thank you for your blog of the Ft. Meyer's campus, though. It has helped me kind of know what to expect even though the curriculum has changed. You included the information on the ATI, which I just received a month ago in my 2nd quarter. I'm glad you blogged about all you did, cause that's the way I've gotten most of my information. So again, thank you ?

@Kimmy00 Thank you! And CONGRATS on your 4.0! That’s no joke.

I am glad I could provide some insight and assistance. I think it is important that we as nurses and nursing students be leaders not just out in the community, but to each other; to nursing students and future nursing students.

I know some in my cohort would claim I was top of my class. I try to stay humble and say that there is always someone in my class who is better at something than I am. And since starting nursing school, I’ve truly adopted the motto “faster alone, further together.” I went from a mindset of doing it all on my own and being the top, to working with my cohort to make sure we are all successful and the best we can be. Because nursing is a team effort, and we are only as strong as our weakest link. ??‍♂️

@kimmy00 You can give a summary of your experience at the Orlando campus so far. I would just say to try to keep it factual, as if you were charting. What you’ve observed and maybe how classes were set up. Keep it anonymous, obviously. The point of my blog was just to highlight my experience and inform people, not to encourage or discourage going to Rasmussen. There wasn’t a lot out there about Rasmussen when I started aside from negative reviews, so I thought I’d share what to expect and show that it’s an individual experience shaped by that individual’s drive, determination, discipline, and goals. So, in short, think “informative” and not necessarily a review (negative or positive).
