Hello all,
I am applying to the upcoming semester at Lonestar and I was wondering if anyone in the program could tell me what your grades in your nursing classes are based on (classes like med-surg, etc...not pharm or fundamentals). I had heard the entire class is based off of test grades...is this true? Are there no worksheets, homework, papers to write, etc?
Thanks, I have been curious for quite some time!! Hope everyone is enjoying their summers.

I just finished my first year at Lonestar Tomball...other campuses may be a little different...
We get 3 grades--clinical, lab, and lecture class. Lab grade is based on a quiz you take online each week, lecture is roughly 95% test grades and 5% homework. Hate to say this but really can't give an answer for how the clinical grade is computed. There is a grid that your clinical teacher grades you on each week, but it is very subjective and tends to depend on what teacher you have.
We have not had any papers to write so far.
Hope this helps!
thanks for the breakdown for us.

i am entering the second year at north harris. we get three grades; one in lecture, one in lab, and one in clinical. here are this past semester's grading scales from nursing 2. our lab grade is based on: exams (3): 80%
vce #1: 10%
vce #2: 10%
final grade: 100%
lecture: 80%= average of the unit exams (every two weeks or so)
20% = mid curricular hesi
clinical: this grade is based on different competencies and skills that we are checked off on. we get an evaluation at midterm and at the end of the semester, with comments each week from our clinical instructor on our care plans.
i hope this information helps; i do know that all of the lone star programs are different, but they are trying to become more alike.
