My good ol friend mister louse showed up on a kiddo today. Policy followed. Call, send home. No problem!!
Then THE CALL!!!!
"Umm, mam I am so and so step father and I don't see anything but dandruff in her hair."
-Sir, I located more than one live louse on her head.
"Well I have looked and I didn't see anything. I know what I am looking for I am a medical professional!!!" I am a nurse!
-Well sir, SO am I and I know that she has lice. I will be happy to check her in the morning before school. Thank you!

Ya know.... if it's my kid, I'm not gonna dig thru their hair trying to prove they *don't* have lice.... I'm just gonna break out the Rid, or Nix, or whatever and take care of business. (That is if I was able to stop scratching my own head
)
As a matter of fact, for the first few years my kids were in school, I would make sure I had box of the lice treatment on hand, just in case.... I stopped worrying about it when I found out that in my district, if a child is sent home with lice, a package of lice treatment gets sent home with them.
By some miracle, none of my kids ended up getting them. When you consider that between them there's 56
cumulative school years (4 kids x 14 yrs of school each[prek- 12]) I think that's really something!
