I am a senior in the Ramapo BSN program. I honestly do not know about the other school's programs, but I will tell you a little about Ramapo's. The nursing program is your junior and senior year. During this time, they send half of the students to Valley Hospital in Ridgewood (that's where I am) and the other half goes to Englewood Hospital. The Englewood students not only do their clinicals there, they also take their classes at the hospital.

I do not have any major complaints with the nursing department. We have a beautiful classroom and hospital simulation lab. However, the forty people in your class you are stuck with for two years, so you can get kind of sick of them! haha

Thanks so much for replying =) I visited Ramapo but I don't remember too many details, since I visited 7 schools they all sort of combined together in my head. How do you like the school itself? Pros, cons? Are you happy with the program itself and the teachers? Do you have any idea what the passing rate of Ramapo is for the NCLEX? Sorry for so many questions at once!

One of the most important things to consider is the nclex pass rate. Here is the link to ck out the schools you are interested in. I am not sure, but this may just be pa schools.

Along with the other questions I asked in my previous response, I have just 2 more that I thought of. Is 40 the normal class size for nursing at ramapo? and also, how many students have either dropped out or flunked out of your class if any? Asking because I was wondering about the retention rate of the colllege.

Yes, pretty much. Clinicals are ~ 8 students with a professor.

Around 8 first semester (first semester weed out students, we have not lost any since). Don't assume it's because of "bad" or "inadequate" teaching, the following excuses apply ...

Legitimately failed, could not pass tests for whatever reason ... then we have ..

Personal life problems

Didn't care crowd

It's really simple, if you WORK (read: STUDY) for it, you will pass. We are given all the resources in the world (damn you ATI) ... it's your job to use them (and use your free time wisely - the very very very very little of it you actually have).

I answered a whole bunch of questions previously a couple of months ago for someone else, just search for that post if you want more info.

Thanks so much that's great info!! Do you have any idea about Ramapo NCLEX passing rate? I can't find any for my NJ schools and my parents really want me to find it out before making a final decision.

I got your message but it won't let me answer since i have less than 15 posts so I just have a question on here again.. Any way you can give me pros/cons of both Englewood and Valley? I would have thought that having classes and clinicals at Englewood would be a little bit of a pain since you're not on the actual campus, but you like it better??
