I can't help you, but that IS one fascinating field, indeed. I floated to the Radiology/Special Procedures dept pretty steadily for a while when i was a float, and whenever i worked in the Special Procedures area (often as the one giving "conscious sedation" for procedures) i was always amazed at the things they can do under fluoroscopy, and in awe of the techs who were assisting the procedures, and felt like i'd stepped into a science fiction set or something sometimes.
good luck!!

I am a radiology nurse in New York. Every single one of us in our department and there are 16 of us are former ICU/CCU or ER nurses. You have to be able to read monitors number one. I got my radiology certification last year. Hard test but I passed it. We have had nurses also come from step down units and one from a med surg floor. We give a lot of training for 'new' people as we do lots of procedures and are on call also.
Thank you for answering my question! Did you go to a local community college to the certification or did you do it online? Thanks again!
CRN is a national test and you have to go to a testing site. It is not done on a computer or taken as a course at a community college. I took mine at a hospital testing site
