I called up the hiring manager at a hospital I interviewed at said thanks for taking the time to interview me and asked if she had made a decision. She had told me she did make a decision and that the nurse recruiter should contact me today or tomorrow. I've not had this reply when interviewing before. Is this a good or bad sign? I'm used to hiring managers straight up telling me I did or did not have the job. Now I'm nervous!
Has anybody else had an experience like this?
Ok, I got the position! I'm just a spaz I guess!

Congratulations!
In a lot of larger organizations, the offering of a job is regulated and only HR can make the offer. It's quite common.

Also, when they do call, it's a person who is prepared to discuss with you the salary offer, benefits, etc., so, if you just happened to catch the hiring manager on the 'phone, that person, while s/he might know whether or not you were being offered the job, would not be prepared to have "The Conversation" with you about all the details and would defer to the planned call by someone who was prepared.
