Most agencies (all in NY that I know of) won't even look at you without having AT LEAST one year bedside experience (and that's the shoddier agency--the reputable want at least 2-3 years experience).
Same with hospitals that hire per diem workers-they want their RNs proficient in their skills since they won't go through as long of an orientation and preceptorship.
Sorry.
I'm with Kell on this one: without bedside (aka: hospital) experience, the jobs you're describing aren't available. As for chart review, you have to HAVE experience with what you're reading to know what you're reading, know what I mean?
Your best bet to get that much-needed experience is, of course, to get a job in a hospital (or nursing home) and begin orientation. Nursing home experience only will also limit you some, too.

Hi everyone, I need some advice. I'm a recent grad (may '06) who went straight on to midwifery school, so i have zero nursing experience.
Here's my problem: I will have to generate some income this summer while my dh is studying for the bar exam. I could just do temp office work, but I'm wondering if anyone can point me to a good temp agency for nursing or health care staffing in nyc? And, of course, I'm wondering what the chances are for me to actually get a temp nursing job without ever having had one before. I was thinking I could do things like chart reviews, where my lack of experience wouldn't be such an issue. But where to find jobs like that?
thanks for any ideas...
